Why does using stem cell growth factors and cytokines for microneedling matter?

Updated: Aug 6, 2023

It's sort of like asking this: what’s so great about getting an upgrade on your hotel room to the penthouse suite? Wha’t so great about fibre optic vs dial-up?

Stem Cell Growth Factors and Cytokines are the master communicators in your cells. “These cells employ cytokines, mesenchymel cells are cytokine powerhouses.” When you needle them into your skin, they organize and boss all the anti-inflammatory, healing, proliferating and remodelling cellular actions into high and efficient gear.

When emplyoing growth factors and cytokines during the process of microneedling there is a significant improvement in the proliferation and migration of dermal fibroblasts and epidermal keratinocytes. Additionally there is increased collagen synthesis in fibroblasts. (These are all very good things.)

When you microneedle with stem cell growth factors and cytokines its like adding a triple shot espresso to your morning.

Stem cells have the ability to regenerate or replicate quickly and efficiently. In the context of use during microneedling this is a benefit because it amps up the proliferation of these cells that are much more collagen and elastin rich. You should always equate more collagen and elastin with firmer, tighter more youthful looking skin.

The basic standard for microneedling has been simply using hyaluronic acid as the medium. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance in the body. Essentially it's a clear gooey substance that retains moisture and contributes to the look of skin fullness. As we age, our natural production of hyaluronic acid wanes (as it does with collagen and elastin). So, when used in microneedling, hyal helps to give a look of plumpness to the skin. That's cool. But, when you microneedle with BOTH hyal and stem cell growth factors and cytokines you get the look of plumpness AND healing powerhouses that divide and conquer at a cellular level to not only provide plumpness but ALSO collagen and elastin to firm and tighten the skin. And, as if that isn't enough, these new cells created by these hyper-dividing stem cells also aren't wrought with the hyperpigmentation that you've collected over the years. You can read that to mean you'll have a more evenly pigmented epidermis. (These, also, are all very good things).
