IPL Photofacial and Mystery Age?

Updated: Oct 4

For a lot of women there are a couple of little things that happen over time that kind of create 'tells' on our face. I mean, I don't know about you, but I'm looking for 'Mystery Age' as my age.

She's 50, I think?

She could be older but I doubt it.

Maybe she's 44? I dont' know, it's hard to tell.

How do you achieve Mystery Age? Well, you'll need to start to manage the 'tells'.

What are the tells?

Age spots

Sun Damage

Hyperpigmentation

Textural issues

Generalized redness

Laxity

Ugh. If you've got one or some of these, you know like I do that it can be the first thing you see in the mirror, or all you see in the group photo with your friends. They suck. Period.

There're so many treatments in this industry that it's hard to know which to choose.

(my personal favourite approach is combining treatments but that's a different post for a different day).

Even if you're combining, you've got to start somewhere. And, an IPL Photofacial is for many, a great first step.

Let's talk about what you can hope to achieve with an IPL Photofacial.

IPL Photofacials for minimizing pigmentation.
Minimize redness from broken capillaries.

1. Sun Damage Reversal: Years of basking in the sun or even just incidental sun exposure can lead to sunspots or age spots (tomato: tomahtoe), darkening or more plentiful freckles, and uneven pigmentation. IPL photofacials are well-known for being able to focus on the darker pigmentation associated with turning your face into the sun for too many years and secretly being happy that you're darker than your friends and it's only June. lol. (I know. Suncreen wasn't really a thing. But if you're doing IPL it needs to be.) 2. Rosacea and Redness Reduction: If you struggle with rosacea, visible blood vessels, or persistent redness on your skin, IPL can target and reduce these issues. The photofacial is a non-invasive way to minimize red undertones, leaving your complexion calmer and less flushed. I know it's hard to hear and even though you've heard it half a million times you still search for the website that might put all the others to shame and tell you different. (pssst: we're not going to be that page. oooof. That was harsh: half-million and one times now). There is no cure for rosacea but it's possible to achieve some minimization of the redness. Redness not associated with rosacea can be targeted more effectively. 3. Collagen Boost for Anti-Aging: Aging naturally leads to a decline in collagen production, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles. An IPL photofacial can stimulate collagen production, helping to tighten and firm your skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. (If lifting is your primary goal, we should think about having a chat about Venus Freeze). 4. Improved Skin Texture: Enlarged pores, rough skin texture, and acne scars can make your skin look less than flawless. IPL treatments can address these concerns by minimizing the size of your pores and smoothing out skin texture, giving you a more refined complexion. 5. Minimal Downtime for Busy Lives: Some of you are comfortable walking around in all sorts of disaster, and others won't go to the grocery store unless you're lookin like all you've got. No shame in either. One of the best features about IPL photofacials is that they typically have minimal downtime. You won't look your best for a couple of days - especially if we targeted a lot of pigment, but it's not bad and you can wear makeup.

So, whether you're looking to undo the sun damage of the 80s, reduce redness but also come to terms with rosacea, make some increases in collagen for some lifting but know we're also going to chat about Venus Freeze, improve your skin's texture an IPL photofacial could be just the ticket to healthier, more radiant skin. We're also going to have a serious conversation about suncreen if you choose IPL, but we can do that when you're here. lol.
